• 2 Appointments with our Dietitian
• All Lap Band adjustments in rooms (excluding those performed under x-ray)
• 3 Post-op workshops with our psychologist and dietitian at 6 weeks, 6 months, and 12 months after surgery
• A comprehensive patient manual

Initial Appointments

To determine whether Lap Band surgery is the right option for you, and to assess your suitability, there are a number of pre-surgical consultations designed to prepare you for your weight loss journey. These consultations are not included in the surgical package. The assessment and planning process is carried out through consultations with members of our clinical team.

Establishing contact with a member of our patient liaison staff, by telephone or in person, is the first step. They can answer any questions you may have about the options available and will guide you through the process. You can expect continued support from them in the months following surgery.  

If you choose to proceed, following these initial discussions, you will meet with the surgeon, dietitian, and psychologist before being scheduled for surgery. You will need a referral from your doctor before you can proceed with your appointment with the surgeon. The cost of all pre-surgical appointments is as follows:

• Initial surgical consultation: $140 (GP referral required - Medicare rebate applies)
• Dietitian consultation and assessment (45 min): $120 (Health fund rebate may apply)
• Psychologist consultation and assessment (50 min): $220.00 (Health fund rebate may apply)

Once you have completed these appointments you will be booked in for surgery. Your surgical date may be as early as two weeks following these initial appointments, depending on any other pre-surgery requirements.
